The 6th Asean Health Cluster 3 – Strengthening Health System And Access To Care 3-5 June 2025

The 6th Asean Health Cluster 3 – Strengthening Health System And Access To Care 3-5 June 2025

June 9, 2025

Tuesday, 6 Zulhijjah 1446H / 3 June 2025 – In alignment with the ASEAN Vision 2025 and the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Blueprint 2025, the ASEAN Health Sector continues to strengthen its regional collaboration through the ASEAN Post-2015 Health Development Agenda (APHDA). As part of this effort, Brunei Darussalam will host the 6th ASEAN Health Cluster 3 Meeting: Strengthening Health System and Access to Care (AHC3) from 3 to 5 June 2025.

Present as Guest of Honor at the opening session is Awang Haji Adi Ihram bin Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud, Director of Policy and Planning, Ministry of Health.

The meeting will be held at the Mutiara Hall, Radisson Hotel, Bandar Seri Begawan, and is expected to convene approximately 80 participants, including delegates from all 10 ASEAN Member States, the ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN Partners, and Timor Leste as an observer. The meeting marks a significant milestone, especially following a two-year pause in AHC3 meetings under the previous chairmanship.

Brunei Darussalam officially assumed the Chairmanship of ASEAN Health Cluster 3 for the term 2025–2026, taking over from Vietnam. Under its leadership, the country will spearhead discussions to advance regional health priorities under AHC3, with a focus on:

  • Ensuring universal access to safe, affordable, quality, and holistic health care;
  • Promoting innovation and digital health technologies; and
  • Enhancing health care delivery for vulnerable populations including women, children, and migrant workers.

The objectives of this meeting include outlining administrative, logistical, and budgetary requirements for hosting, securing approval for the proposed budget, and formalising the composition of the Organising Committee responsible for ensuring the event’s success.

There are 42 health-related strategic measures in the ASCC Blueprint which are currently being operationalized through the APHDA and its ASEAN Health Cluster Work Programmes. To achieve the vision, mission and goals of the ASEAN Health Sector, the APHDA will focus the cooperation and resources to implement regional programme and project activities for the 20 Health Priorities overseen by four ASEAN Health Clusters.
