RIPAS Hospital
Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital is the largest and the main tertiary referral hospital in Brunei Darussalam, equipped with modern and up to date medical technology. The hospital was officially opened on 28th August 1984 by Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam. RIPAS Hospital is easily accessible by road, by air, as well as by the river. This central and ideal location allows it to be easily accessible to patients from all four districts in the country. RIPAS Hospital has gone through several expansion programs involving its infrastructure as well as its services to accommodate growing demands.
RIPAS Hospital is also a major teaching hospital for doctors, medical and nursing students in collaboration with the Institute of Medicine at University Brunei Darussalam, the Faculty of Medicine of University of Queensland in Australia, and the Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah College of Nursing in Brunei Darussalam.
Suri Seri Begawan Hospital, Belait
The Suri Seri Begawan Hospital started its operation on 3rd October 1972, catering for the whole of Belait District population. Since then, the hospital has undergone several infrastructure expansion and renovation to accommodate the growing demands of its care providers and users. The infrastructure development includes the construction of the new Women and Children Block. The hospital, the second largest in the country, offers secondary care that includes accident and emergency, internal medicine, general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, ophthalmology, renal, psychiatry, orthorhinolaryngology, dermatology and orthopaedics.
The Suri Seri Begawan Hospital visualises itself to be a renowned hospital of high reputation providing high quality health care by practising evidence-based medicine.
Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital, Tutong
The Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital was officiated by His Royal Highness The Crown Prince Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah on 11 August 1998. The Hospital caters for the population in the Tutong District. This 139-bedded hospital is equipped with high technology equipment.
The hospital has been identified as an Isolation Centre for Infectious Diseases and two wards have undergone extensive renovation to enable it to have isolation facilities to cater for serious communicable diseases such as Avian Influenza, SARS and COVID-19.
Pengiran Isteri Hajah Mariam Hospital, Temburong
The Pengiran Isteri Hajah Mariam Hospital started its operation towards the end of 1986 and was officially opened on 3rd September 1987. The hospital caters for the population in the Temburong District.
The hospital also provides certain secondary care clinical services with input from visiting specialists from RIPAS Hospital. Due to the geographical location of the Temburong Districts cases that need tertiary and specialised care were transferred to RIPAS Hospital by boat or land.
