The Ministry of Health in Brunei recognises the urgent need to address environmental sustainability within the healthcare sector. The Climate, Health, and Sustainability Taskforce has been established to lead this initiative, aligning with global best practices and WHO’s guidelines on climate change and health. This project is critical to ensuring that Brunei’s healthcare system remains resilient and sustainable.

Objective:
To reduce, properly segregate, and dispose of clinical waste to minimise environment impact.
Energy Efficiency in Healthcare Facilities
Objective:
To reduce energy consumption and promote the use of renewable energy in healthcare facilities.
Water Conservation and Management
Objective:
To reduce water usage and implement sustainable water management practices.
Sustainable Procurement Practices
Objective:
To procure eco friendly and sustainable medical supplies and equipment.
Transportation and Logistics
Objective:
To reduce the carbon footprint of transportation within the healthcare sector.
Community Outreach and Education
Objective:
To raise awareness and educate the public about sustainability in healthcare.
Research and Development
Objective:
To support research on the environmental impacts of healthcare and develop innovative solutions.
Green Team
The establishment of the Green Team as the focal point and driving force for green initiatives and sustainability across the entire organisation.
The Green Team consists of:
- Heads of Departments
- Secretariats of MOH Climate, Health and Sustainability Taskforce;
- Infection control nurses.
- Other MOH personnel with a strong interest in and commitment to sustainability.
