Offloading devices are used to treat or prevent diabetic or non-diabetic foot ulcers. Their purpose is to redistribute pressure on plantar aspect (sole) of the foot thereby reducing the risk of foot ulcers and infection. Common offloading modalities include removable controlled ankle movement walkers/boots  and total contact casts.

• Patients with diabetes are at risk of developing wounds / ulcers on their feet.
• Podiatrists provide neurological, vascular and footwear assessments to identify the high-risk foot and educate patients with diabetes on the prevention of foot wound/ulcers.

• Paediatric (Infant and Children) foot disorders include a range of conditions that may affect the bones, tendons and muscles of the foot.
• These disorders may be present at birth e.g. clubfoot (infant’s foot is turned inwards at the ankle).

• Includes cryotherapy commonly used for treatment of chronic verrucae pedis (warts).

• Open sores or wounds (ulcers) on the feet of patients with diabetes that are slow to heal (non-healing).
• Treatment involves sharp debridement of the ulcer (removal of dead skin tissue) & using specialised medicated dressings.

• Debridement of wounds using ultrasonic device to promote wound healing. 

• Wound management in patients with Diabetes also require diabetic foot screening and assessment.
