Ministry of Health Advances Controlled Proof-of-Concept for Healthcare AI Initiative

Ministry of Health Advances Controlled Proof-of-Concept for Healthcare AI Initiative

August 20, 2026

EVYD Technology supports the Ministry of Health in the development and evaluation of an AI use case for healthcare

Wednesday, 06 Rabiulawal 1448H / 19 August 2026 — EVYD Technology is supporting the Ministry of Health, Brunei Darussalam, in the development and evaluation of a healthcare artificial intelligence (AI) use case, which has completed its initial internal validation phase and is now progressing to a controlled Proof-of-Concept (POC) involving a selected group of participants.

The controlled POC represents an important evaluation stage in exploring how AI may potentially support the delivery of healthcare services in Brunei Darussalam. The initiative supports the Ministry of Health’s ongoing efforts towards digital transformation in healthcare, in line with Wawasan Brunei 2035 and its goal of improving the quality of life of the people of Brunei Darussalam.

A Controlled and Careful Approach

The use of AI in healthcare requires careful evaluation, particularly in areas relating to technical performance, safety, data security and other applicable requirements.

Following the completion of the initial internal validation phase, the AI use case will now be assessed within a controlled POC environment. This stage will provide an opportunity to further evaluate its performance and suitability, as well as gather relevant feedback and findings from the selected participants.

The findings and outcomes from the POC will subsequently be reviewed by the Ministry of Health and relevant stakeholders before any decision is made regarding the next stage of the initiative.

This measured approach is intended to ensure that the potential application of AI within healthcare is explored responsibly and with appropriate consideration given to safety, reliability, security and the needs of users.

Supporting the Initiative through Local Digital Infrastructure

The AI platform supporting the POC is deployed at the Unified National Networks (UNN) data centre in Brunei Darussalam.

UNN provides the local computing infrastructure and network environment supporting the AI application. The infrastructure arrangements form part of the broader technical considerations surrounding the secure and responsible evaluation of the technology.

Exploring the Potential of AI in Healthcare

Through this initiative, the Ministry of Health is exploring how emerging technologies such as AI may appropriately complement healthcare services and support healthcare professionals, while potentially improving service efficiency, accessibility and the overall user experience.

EVYD Technology, as the technology partner supporting the initiative, will continue to work with the Ministry of Health throughout the controlled POC and evaluation process.

Any consideration of future implementation or wider application will be guided by the findings of the POC and the Ministry of Health’s assessment of the technology’s suitability, safety and potential value to Brunei Darussalam’s healthcare system.

The initiative reflects the Ministry of Health’s continued commitment to exploring digital innovation responsibly, with the interests, safety and well-being of patients and the public remaining at the forefront.
