Tuesday, 02 Rabiulawal 1447 / 26 August 2025 – The Ministry of Health, Brunei Darussalam, in collaboration with the Regional Public Health Laboratory (RPHL) Network, will be hosting the Brunei Darussalam National Laboratory Strategic Plan Workshop from 26 to 28 August 2025 at The Rizqun International Hotel.
The three-day event will bring together national and regional laboratory experts, policymakers and stakeholders to strengthen the Brunei Darussalam National Health Laboratory System through the development the country’s first National Laboratory Strategic Plan.
The opening ceremony will be officiated by Dr Hjh Lailawati Binti Haji Jumat, Acting Director General of Medical and Health Services, Ministry of Health. She will be joined by Ms. Jintana Sriwongsa, Regional Program Director of the RPHL Network, who will deliver remarks and lead several technical sessions.
The workshop will feature sharing sessions from regional laboratory experts, including:
- Nik Jasmin Nik Binti Mahir (Malaysia)
- Ravindran Thayan (Malaysia)
- Kanate Temtrirath (Thailand)
Key activities will include:
- Development of scope, vision and mission for Brunei Darussalam National Laboratory Strategic Plan
- SWOT analysis of Brunei Darussalam’s current situation
- Validation of of SWOT analysis outputs and thematic areas
- Development of overarching strategic objectives and action plan/activities
The outcome of this workshop will be a comprehensive, multisectoral National Laboratory Strategic Plan that operationalises the Brunei Darussalam National Health Laboratory System’s policy framework, strengthening laboratory governance, diagnostic services, quality systems, workforce capacity, and regional collaboration, while aligning with Wawasan Brunei 2035, the International Health Regulations (2005), and ASEAN health security priorities.
The workshop will conclude with the “Way Forward and Conclusion” session led by Ms. Jintana Sriwongsa, followed by the official closing ceremony by the Brunei Darussalam National Laboratory Strategic Plan Lead on 28 August 2025.
