Saturday, 19 Rabiulakhir 1447H / 11 October 2025 – The Inauguration Ceremony of the International Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Exhibition and Conference 2025 took place this morning at the Dewan Musyawarah, International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas.
Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health.
The ceremony began with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by welcoming remarks by Yang Mulia Dr. Hajah Rafidah binti Gharif, Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, who also serves as Co-Chairperson of the International NCD Exhibition and Conference 2025.
The Guest of Honour then delivered his speech and and officially launched the scientific conference.
The event featured two keynote addresses:
- “NCD Actions: Bridging Communities & Healthcare” delivered by Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe, WHO Representative and Head of the WHO Country Office to Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and Singapore; and
- “BruMap-NCD: Insights on the Roadmap to a Healthier Nation” presented by Dr. Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Md Kassim, Senior Advisor, Department of Environmental Health Services, Ministry of Health.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of certificates of appreciation to invited speakers and key stakeholders, followed by light refreshments.
The Brunei’s International Non-Communicable Exhibition & Conference is the first jointly organized NCD conference that is co- led by the Ministry of Health, Jerudong Park Medical Centre Group and Gleneagles JPMC.
The event aims to strengthen collaboration between communities and healthcare providers in addressing the challenges of non-communicable diseases, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to building a healthier and more resilient population.
