Dr Malissa was appointed as the Medical Superintendent for Dental Services in 2016. Currently, she is also an Associate Specialist (Dental) in Endodontics at the National Dental Centre and is heading the Endodontic Unit for Dental Services since 2010. She joined the Ministry in 2002 as a Dental Officer and later on promoted to Senior Dental Officer (Grade I) in 2008.
Was a part-time lecturer and clinical supervisor for the undergraduate students in Bachelor of Dental Surgery in King's College London, United Kingdom between 2007 and 2010. Her other appointments include Head of Dental CME subcommittee, representative in the ASEAN Joint Coordinating Committee for Dental Practitioners and an Endodontics Tutor and Clinical Supervisor for the Basic Clinical Specialty Training training programme.
​She has a Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom (2002) and a Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, United Kingdom (2006). Later on in 2010 she continued to do her Masters in Clinical Dentistry in Endodontics (MClinDent Endo) with a distinction from King's College London, United Kingdom and a Masters in Restorative Dentistry in Endodontics (MRD Endo) from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, United Kingdom. She is also a member of a number of board certifications.
