Dr Haji Osmali was recently appointed as our Head of Allied Health Professional (2016). Before this appointment, he held the post of Assistant Director of Department of Laboratory Services and headed the department. Amongst the other positions that Dr Haji Osmali held includes Vice President of Brunei Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists (BAMLS) (2012-2015), Vice Chair of the Interim Committee of the Allied Health Professional Council, Vice President of Allied Health Association and the ASEAN Focal point for ASEAN Partnership Laboratories + 3 (APLs + 3) for Brunei Darussalam.
Some notable achievements includes, a recipient of a World Health Award during the 15th International Student Congress of Medical Sciences, (ISCOMS), 3-6th June 2008, Groningen, Holland for Oral-Poster Presentation – "The prevalence of serotype 2 in the 2005-2006 dengue cases in Brunei and its molecular characterization, participated in a array of proceedings, oral and poster presentations both in and outside the country in various international symposiums and conferences such as 7th Asia-Pacific Congress of Medical Virology, New Dehli (2006) and 2nd International Conference on Dengue and Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever, Phuket, Thailand (2008), 3rd Asian Regional Dengue Research Network Meeting, Taipei, Taiwan (2007) and Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei Medical Science Conferences, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei (2007).
​​Dr Haji Osmali received his BSc Hon (Applied Biology) 1984-1988 and continued to pursue his master's degree in MSc (Medical Microbiology) 1997-1998 and his DLSHTM (Medical Microbiology) in 1998. He then completed his PhD (Medicine – Virology) 2005-2008. He also has contributed and published publications in international journals.
