Visiting Policy
Introduction
a) This policy is intended to facilitate the comfort of visitors and patients.
b) It is also intended to protect the health and safety of visitors and patients.
Policy Statements
a) Regular visiting hours are from 9am to 6.30pm daily.
b) Any visits outside regular visiting hours are subject to approval from doctors and should be arranged in advance.
c) If visitors are not adhering to this policy, staff should inform the Nurse on call / Nurse in charge for advice.
d) Visitors are not allowed to bring certain objects such as:
- Sharp items (knives, forks, needles).
- rope
- Lighter/matches
- Cigarettes
- Mobile phone/camera
e) Only 2 visitors per patient are allowed at one time.
f) Children below 12 years old are NOT ALLOWED to enter the premises.
g) Security staff should ensure that visitors leave their belongings (handbags, mobile phones, and camera) in the provided locker.
h) NO pictures or videos should be taken during the visit.
i) Food and patients' belongings brought from home should be inspected by staff before handed over to patients.
j) Staff should observe the visits from a distance and there are any problems, staff should politely end the visit and request the visitors to leave.
k) Visitors are only allowed to visit the patients in the visiting room.
l) Visitors are not allowed to go inside the dormitory or any of the single rooms.
m) Visitors should be advised not speak unnecessarily with other patients.
n) Other agencies other than family members wishing to visit patients need to submit a request in writing to the Head of Department 2 weeks in advance of proposed visit.
