IMPORTATION OF FRESH MEAT
Permit
for the importation of fresh halal meat are obtained from three different
government agencies before it can be declared with the Royal Royal
Customs & Excise Department (RCED), Ministry of Finance, for clearance.
This includes:
- Animal
Quarantine Services, Ministry of Primary
Resources & Tourism
- Halal Food Control Division, Ministry
of Religious Affairs
- Food
Safety & Quality Control Division, Ministry of Health
It is
advised that the importer who intends to import the meat to first consult with
RCED for declaration procedures via the Brunei Darussalam National single
Window (BDNSW) system and to submit permit applications to the other relevant
government agencies.
For
your information, once the items are declared in the BDNSW system and you have
permit approvals from the other relevant agencies, you are required to submit the following
copies of documentation to the FSQCD:
- Invoice;
- Veterinary
Certificate or Health Certificate or any certificate issued by the authorized
government body of the exporting country that verifies their safety for
consumption;
- Manufacturing
license or GMP or HACCP or ISO 22000 or any certificate issued by the
authorized government body of the exporting country that verifies that the
products are produced under hygienic conditions;
Please
note that some
certificates (e.g. veterinary certificates) certifies both safety for
consumption and hygiene. The information should be detailed within the
certificate itself.
It is
advised that the importer fully understand the particulars of the certificate
prior to submission.
Submission
& approval by the FSQCD will be via the BDNSW system.
