The National Health Screening Programme (NHSP) is a nationwide health screening initiative organised by the Ministry of Health of Brunei Darussalam in 2019. The programme offers Brunei citizens and permanent residents in at-risk age group screening tests for cardiovascular risk factors and selected cancers namely colorectal, breast, and cervical cancers, based on scientific recommendations.
The main aims are to:
- Prevent or detect early signs of noncommunicable diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and cancer
- Prevent or detect early complications caused by noncommunicable diseases
- Reduce the rate of premature deaths due to noncommunicable diseases
